Mary M. Bailey, 83, of Sand Springs, OK passed away at Legends on Mingo after a long hospital visit on Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born to Twylamae (Mabe) and Charles McLaughin in Tulsa, OK January 8, 1941, and graduated from Tulsa Central High School.

In the summer of 1960, she married Ellis G. (Sonny) Bailey (USAF Retired) and followed him to Mississippi, California, Florida and Hawaii where they were stationed during his years of service. They retired in Tulsa, OK to be closer to family. Mary went to work at Hillcrest Medical Center where she worked in multiple departments -labor and delivery, nursery, Leta Chapman Breast Center and Outpatient Imaging until she retired at 80 with close to 40 years. Her favorite area to work was the nursery with the babies; however, she enjoyed the other areas as she was very much a people person and loved to listen to their stories.

Mary enjoyed her grand and great grandchildren along with Christmas and reading. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and the tree went up Thanksgiving weekend. She loved all of the decorations, and nothing would please her more than the house ready for Christmas, packages under the tree waiting for her family to enjoy their time together.

Survivors include daughter, Diana and husband Shawn Abbott, son David Bailey, 3 grandchildren, Christopher and Alicia Abbott, Jacob and Pauline Abbott and Raini and Aerin Bailey, 5 great grandchildren Eli, Roland, Eleanor, Nora and Bridgette along with nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents-Twyla Mae – mother and her father Charles McLaughlin, two sisters – Twyla Bolin, Joyce Leeds and a brother Glen Bailey and her loving husband Ellis G. Bailey of 61 years.
