Mary "Freda" Colberg, 86, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa.

A lifelong resident of Sand Springs, Freda was born on June 30, 1938, to Grant B. Burris and M. Olease Burris. Freda graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1956 and later attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, graduating with the Class of 1978. Her career began in 1957 at Sand Springs State Bank, which later became Bank of Oklahoma, N.A. She devoted over 50 years to the banking industry, retiring in 2008. Freda had a deep love for her work and especially cherished the relationships she built with her customers and her community. While working at the bank, she met Charles "Bill" Colberg, and the two were married in 1958. They shared 52 years of marriage and raised one daughter, Cherie. After Bill's passing, Freda was blessed to share 13 wonderful years with her dear friend and companion, Ross Wells. Their time together was filled with love and joy. Freda was a devoted member of Broadway Baptist Church throughout her life and was also a past member of the Rotary Club. Her faith, dedication to service, and generous spirit touched many lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Olease Burris, and her brothers, Max and Earle Burris.

She is survived by her daughter, Cherie Ann Richter, and husband Francis of Anchor Point, Alaska; her grandsons Kyle Ayers (wife Heather and son Finn) and Tye Gramm (daughter Piper); and many friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly. Freda will be remembered for her warm heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for her family—especially her daughter and grandchildren, whom she adored.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.  Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church.
