She was born to William and Ellen Marshall in Checotah, Oklahoma. She grew up in Oktaha, Oklahoma where she participated in basketball during her high school years. She married Robert Darland, which was the bus driver for the school. They moved to Sand Springs in 1952, buying their first home in Prattville, Oklahoma. She gave birth to two sons, Danny and Larry Darland and one daughter, Belinda Darland, who died in infancy.
Mary worked for Kerr Glass for a little over thirty years. She loved to garden and tend her flowers. Each new bloom and produce from her garden brought her great joy and satisfaction.
She was saved at a James Robinson crusade.
Mary loved her grandchildren. She always made sure they had nice clothes; and enjoyed being able to send them to Falls Creek Camp. She loved cooking. If you came over to visit, she wanted to feed you. She loved cooking for the holidays, baking brownies for the church, and her family. If someone was sick, or she felt it was time to do something for somebody, she would send them food, brownies, banana bread, or a good ole pie.
We will miss her joy for life and laughter.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ellen Marshall; brothers, Billy and Robert Marshall; and sister, Jo Ellen Epps.
She's survived by her sons, Danny Darland and wife Jacque and Larry Darland; grandkids, Kimberly Broaddrick and husband Randy; Emily Carlton; Tommy Darland; Sue Ann Bauders and fiancé Michael Coulter; great-grandkids, Brittany Bauders and fiancé Kyle Patterson; Kaitlyn Mullins; Tommy Rey Darland; Ashley Hon and husband Nick Hon; Ashley Coddington; Courtney Debeano and husband Jon; Hayley Carlton; Caleb Carlton; Noah, Joshua, and Nate Brazelton; Chesney and Morgan Broaddrick; Great-great grandchildren, Malcomb and twins on the way, Myah and Makiyi Patterson, and Briley and Jonas Hon.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Complete Hospice of Oklahoma, especially Chelsea and Kaitlyn, for the tender care and compassion they provided to Mary during her final days. The family would also like to express their deep appreciation to Ashley Coddington and Sue Ann Bauder for their unwavering support, kindness, and love. Their presence and care meant more than words can ever fully express.
