The daughter of Dillard Lawrence Shelton and Lily Bell (Surber) Shelton was born December 4, 1944, in Shelbyville, Indiana. Mary Beth was active in choir, band, and 4-H where she excelled as a seamstress. At a young age, she could have been a professional seamstress, and definitely put others to shame. She was very proud of the prized china set she won for her mother with her excellency of work through 4-H. As a wife and mother, Mary Beth, made many of her children's clothes, including her daughter's and daughter-in-law's cherished wedding dresses.
Mary Beth graduated from Waldron High School, and continued her education at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. During her first semester Mary Beth met the love of her life, Billy Gerald Patrick. It was love at first sight, and they were united in marriage on February 16, 1964, in Blue Ridge, Indiana. Mary Beth and Billy made their home in Colorado and later in Oklahoma. Mary Beth worked in accounting for Shell Oil Company which later became First Data. She was a genius with numbers; and well known in the oil industry, often traveling to speak to others about the industry.
Mary Beth and Billy loved to serve the Lord, and were members of Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado. No matter where she was attending Mary Beth would jump in and serve anytime, she was needed, but especially loved to teach Sunday School and sing in the choir. Mary Beth always loved and respected her pastor and fellow church members, although at times she loved to show her playful side. She was a faithful prayer warrior, setting her phone alarms to pray for others.
Mary Beth and Billy had a special love for each other. Billy always called her, "My Princess", and she always called him, "My Bill". She was devoted to Billy, loved to build memories with her family, and enjoyed reading in her spare time.
Mary Beth is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Adam West; and sister, Helen Drake.
Survivors include her husband, Billy of the home; children: Dawn West and husband, Richard of Sand Springs, John Patrick and wife, Liz of Sand Springs, and RuthE Koss and husband, Joseph of Kiefer; sister, Marilyn Thomas of Indiana; and grandchildren: Erin West, Stephen West, Josiah Patrick, Carlito Patrick, Adah Patrick, and Anna Patrick.
