Mona Sue
Ellis
Apr 29, 1945 — Aug 13, 2025
Sapulpa
Sue Ellis, lovingly known as "Ma," was born on April 29, 1945, to Leo T. and Dollie L. (Degraffenreed) Rogers in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She married Robert "Bobby" Gary Ellis on June 16, 1962. A devoted homemaker, Sue worked as a church janitor for more than 50 years, taking great pride in keeping both her home and the church spotless and organized. Though a quiet soul, she expressed her love through actions and words. Her heart was full of affection for her husband, children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always striving to make them feel cherished and special.
Sue found joy in tending to her yard, caring for flowers and bushes, and particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren, making sure they had everything they "needed." Christmas was her favorite time of year. She would transform the entire house with decorations, eagerly anticipating the joy of watching everyone, especially the grandkids, open their gifts. No visit to her home was complete without her sending you off with a delicious baked treat or homemade food.
Though she was never one to seek the spotlight, Sue was a constant presence at church, often behind the scenes, preparing and cleaning up for events. Her famous chocolate chip cookies were a sought-after treat at church dinners. As her grandchildren grew, she became known as "Ma" to many in the church community, where she faithfully served the Lord and attended North Heights Church for over 50 years.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ellis; her daughter, Susan Ellis; her parents, Leo and Dollie Rogers; her brothers, Billy Ray and Eddie Rogers; and her grandbaby, Miller.
She is survived by her children, Rick (Donna) Ellis and Tammy (Jeff) Miller; grandchildren, Daniel Ellis, Austin Ellis, Logan (Amanda) Miller, Ashleigh (Justin) Barrett, and bonus granddaughter Rachel Wood; great-grandchildren, Ariel and Lucien Ellis, Alexandria and Baby Girl Barrett, and Jake and Baby Boy Miller; her brother, Don (Betty) Rogers; her sister, Doris Ann Thomas; and many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
