Nelda Sue Charter, age 81, passed from this life on April 22, 2026.

She was born June 10, 1944, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Robert and Nellie Bebee. Nelda spent her early years in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School in 1963.

On July 25, 1964, she married the love of her life, Carl Charter, at Home Gardens Assembly Church in Tulsa. The two first met at a church camp, where their lifelong love story began. Their marriage, which spanned more than 60 years, was rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family, and lasted until Carl's passing less than a year ago. Nelda was a lifelong, faithful Christian. She attended Olivet Baptist Church, where her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.

Nelda had a special gift for sewing and spent countless hours creating beautiful garments, including many dresses for her daughter, Shelli. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in nurturing both her home and those around her.

She loved traveling, especially summer trips with her family to Red River and Eureka Springs. Nelda was also deeply devoted to genealogy, spending many years researching and preserving her family's history and connections.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nellie Bebee, and her husband, Carl Charter; and is survived by her daughter, Shelli McPherson and husband Mike; her sister, Karma Jean Martin; her brother, David Robert Bebee; and her grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Rachael Smith, and Rebecka Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Olivet Baptist Church.
