Paul Edward
Dodson
Nov 6, 1945 — Jan 28, 2022
Tulsa
Paul Edward Dodson went through Heaven's gates to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2022, at his home at the age of 76. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
A Celebration of Paul's Life will be 3 p.m., Sunday, February 6, at Church on the Move West.
The son of John Paul Dodson and Frances (Dyson) Dodson was born November 6, 1945, in Tulsa. Paul was a lifetime Sand Springs resident, graduating from Charles Page High School in 1964 where he was active in the FFA. Paul served in the Army Reserves where he was a cook, and then went to work at a local steel mill. He became reacquainted with his high school classmate, Paula Sue Davis, and they were married on April 14, 1973, at Rim Rock Baptist Church in Coyote Trail. They were blessed with two children: Shelley and Matthew. Paul later went to work with Armco Steel Company and stayed with them through their changes of Gerdau and then Sheffield Steel Company. Paul was a workaholic and always held at least two jobs at a time. He and Paula took over her parent's grocery store, Davis Grocery Store, in Coyote Trail and they ran it for around 10 years. He was also running a locksmith business, Keystone Lock and Key, and helped everyone in this area.
When he wasn't working, Paul and Paula loved to travel. His favorite place to be, and where he dreamed of retiring was in Colorado. He was an excellent skier and loved spending time at Breckenridge. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially Germany, and Japan, as well as many other places.
Maybe his all-time favorite passion was eating. He loved to eat, especially breakfast. He was the chief cook and bottle washer on their trips to Colorado and was up before the break of dawn flipping pancakes, cooking sausage, and making breakfast for everyone. He could eat breakfast any time of the day.
Paul was a faithful member of his church, Church on the Move West. He was a disciplined tither, and a good steward of his faith. He also looked forward to a watching a good game of football and basketball on television.
Paul had a passion and desire to really get to know each person he met. Whether it was running into Braum's or sitting down for a long talk. He loved people. He was always vibrant and bigger than life. There is not anyone he met that didn't instantly like him. He NEVER met a stranger and would do anything for someone in need. He was selfless and always the first one there. He came to enjoy Facebook immensely, keeping up with his friends and commenting on statuses and photos. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him; and we will miss his "Yello" as he answered his phone every time you called.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Frances; and brother, Dennis Dodson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Paula of the home; children: Shelley Adams and husband, Larry of Jenks, and Matthew Dodson of Tulsa; grandchildren Abigail Caitlin Heidler and husband, Dillon, Emily Grace Adams, and Matthew Paul Guynes; and his precious cat, Maple.
