Paulette Mae
Battering
Dec 26, 1943 — Jun 16, 2024
Sand Springs
Paulette Mae Battering, born December 26, 1943, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Raymond Russel Battering and Audre Mae (Robinson) Battering. On Sunday, June 16, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, at the age of 80, Paulette entered her heavenly home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Paulette grew up in Lafayette, Indiana, where she graduated from Jefferson High School. She continued her education at Anderson University. Afterward, she moved to California and worked 30 years with awards as a supervisor at Data Tape, which later became Kodak. In 1993, Paulette relocated to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where she took on the role of administrative assistant at Youth Services of Tulsa. Her duties included data entry and coordinating files until she retired in 2014.
Paulette's mother passed away when she was only 12 years old, a tragedy that led her to become the cook for her large family. She maintained her love for cooking throughout her life, always preparing enough to feed an army.
She deeply cherished her time spent with her close friends: Sharon Dotson, Dorothy Carpenter, and Helen Brown. Where you found one, you were guaranteed to see the others. Paulette and Sharon enjoyed fishing and camping and often spent time at their favorite spot in Broken Bow. Paulette often mentored others on the best way to catch fish. She was tender-hearted, kind, compassionate, independent, and the best friend anyone could have. Her loyalty and determination were unmatched-she believed in doing things her way and persisted until she succeeded.
Paulette took great pride in her yard work and always kept an immaculately manicured lawn.
Paulette was saved and baptized at Garden Heights Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. Her church family were precious to her, and she cherished the time spent with her quilting and senior citizens' group. She was always early to church and shared her testimony with everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Audrey Battering; her sisters, Janice Martin, Norma Gilbert, and Patty Battering; her brothers: Henry Leon Battering and Thomas Funkhouser; and friends, Dorothy Carpenter and Helen Brown. Paulette is survived by her brother, Bob Funkhouser; her niece, Nikki Stanford; and friends, Sharon Dotson and Cindi Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 24, at Garden Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Everette Walrath and Pastor Doyle Baker officiating. The service may be viewed live at www.facebook.com/gardenheightsfwbchurch . Paulette will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service, with family and friends gathering 4-6 p.m.
Paulette Mae Battering has received the reward of her suffering and is forever in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
