Phyllis Joan
Hill
Jun 12, 1937 — Nov 19, 2024
Sand Springs
Phyllis Joan Hill departed this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
Phyllis was born on June 12, 1937, in Lehigh, Kansas, to Charles Wesley Longhofer and Lydia (Wolf) Longhofer. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and attended North High School.
Through a mutual friend, Phyllis met Charles Edwin Hill, the love of her life. On January 17, 1954, the couple married in Yuma, Arizona, during Charles' Marine Corps training in California. Following their marriage, Phyllis returned home to live with her mother and stepfather until Charles completed his military service.
Charles and Phyllis settled in Haysville, Kansas, where they lovingly raised their four children: Charles Edwin Hill, Jr., Raymond Lee Hill, Theresa Lynn Reel, and Renee Elaine Sederlin.
Phyllis was known for her feisty spirit, resilience, and sharp sense of humor. Her German heritage shone through her determination and zest for life. She adored her family and doted on her beloved cat, Freddie, named after Freddie Mercury. She also was fond of listening to the BeeGee's.
Traveling with her husband and family brought Phyllis immense joy, and she especially cherished trips to Hawaii, Colorado, and Canada. Summer travels became a favorite pastime, and after Charles retired, and they made the most of their adventures together. Phyllis was also thrilled to have seen the majestic Clydesdales in person.
A style icon in her own right, Phyllis was always impeccably dressed, with her hair and nails done to perfection. She loved jewelry, high heels, and being a part of lively gatherings, especially those involving young people.
Phyllis and Charles shared 64 beautiful years of marriage, standing by each other through life's challenges and celebrating its joys. Their love and dedication to one another endured until the very end.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her sons: Charles Edwin Hill, Jr. and Raymond Lee Hill; and her parents.
She is survived by her daughters: Theresa Lynn Reel and husband, Jeff, and Renee Elaine Sederlin and husband, Steve; daughter-in-law, Kristine Hill; grandchildren: Joseph Hill, James Hill, Alex Hill, RaeAnn Hill, Katherine Ocampo and husband, Alex, Lauren Dixon and husband, James, and Savannah Marcotte and husband, Ethan; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Judith Harvey; and her cherished cat, Freddie.
