Ray Gene (Gunny) Lancaster  May 8, 1954- September 9,2022 68 years old.

Ray Lancaster, the father of Bert Lancaster, Patti Lancaster, Ellie Murphy and Heather Patterson died peacefully in his home on Friday, September 9th with his precious animals by his side. Ray Lancaster served his country as a Marine for 22 years and served his country his whole life. He was a proud Marine. He always told us, "Once a Marine, always a Marine"! He would wake us up with the Military reveille every morning we were at his house. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League after he retired from active duty. Ray was also Cherokee and took great pride in his heritage. It was an annual tradition to travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma and attend the powwows! He served on the Cherokee board and was proud to know the language of our people! He has left behind 7 grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Leona Grace Fleming, Lily Murphy, Rocky Lancaster, Jeffery Ferguson and Katie Ferguson. He frequently asked about them and enjoyed spending time with them on his visits! Above all, he was a loving father and an amazing dad. He was loved and respected by his family and friends. He will be missed dearly! We will miss you, daddy and will always love you.
