Rev. Reba Jo Johnson, fondly known as Sister Johnson, was born on March 24, 1940, Sutherland Springs, Texas, to George Deagen and Dora Jo (Achterberg) Deagen. She entered her heavenly home on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at University Village in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, at South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa, with Pastor Luke Crain officiating. A viewing will take place from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 25, at the funeral home.

Sister Johnson married Rev. Robert Stanley Johnson on June 1, 1958, in LaVernia, Texas, and together they shared 65 years of devoted marriage and ministry. Growing up in LaVernia, she attended LaVernia High School and was actively involved in the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) club. She later attended Rhema Bible School, which laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to sharing the Word.

Sister Johnson had a long and impactful career in accounting at Oral Roberts University, where she worked for 35 years. Alongside her work at the university, she and her husband ministered at churches throughout the Midwest, touching many lives with their shared faith. A contemporary of Oral Roberts, she worked closely with the Roberts family, particularly in the area of intercessory prayer.

Known for her deep passion for scripture, Sister Johnson was a gifted teacher, particularly on the subject of the Tabernacle Tent of Meeting. Her teaching series, "Types and Shadows," explored the significance of each piece of the tabernacle and its connection to Christ. Reba's scholarly approach to the Bible was evident in her research into the original meanings of Greek and Hebrew texts, and she often sought new revelations as she studied scripture.

Sister Johnson found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading her Bible, writing, sewing, and spending time with her beloved family. She treasured her relationships with her daughters, Rebecca Sue, Rhonda Jo, and Rechelle Dee Johnson, as well as her sister, Phoebe Lentz. She loved visiting her daughters and sharing lunch dates with them whenever possible. Her life was filled with the joy of family, including multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.

After her husband's passing, Sister Johnson found comfort and fellowship with a small group of ladies at Cross Point Church in Sand Springs, where she attended Bible studies and continued to share her faith. Known for her dry wit and engaging storytelling, she was a source of wisdom and encouragement to those around her. Even in her final days, she remained steadfast in her faith, offering prayers and support to others in the nursing home.

Sister Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert S. Johnson; her son, Robert D. Johnson; and her brothers, Gene Deagen and Bill Deagen. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and unwavering love for her Savior, her family, and the many people she ministered to throughout her life.

Sister Johnson's memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. Her dedication to her faith and her gentle, yet powerful spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
