Roger Keith Wheelus entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the age of 87. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at the Mobley-Groesbeck Chapel. Burial with military honors presented by the U.S. Army will follow at Woodland Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-6 p.m., Monday at the funeral home with family greeting friends 4-5 p.m.

Roger was born March 1, 1936, in Pawhuska to Frank Arthur Barozinski and Clydia (Ringold) Barozinski. He graduated from Tulsa's Central High School, where he was an amazing baseball player. As an adult he continued playing ball in area softball leagues. Instead of continuing a baseball career in the professional leagues, Roger chose his beloved high school sweetheart, Doris Lee Hix. They were united in marriage on June 22, 1957, at Glenwood Baptist Church.

Roger attended Tulsa University where he studied accounting. His career began in the mailroom of Skelly Oil while he attended college. He moved into accounting and stayed with the company as it transitioned to Getty Oil and later Texaco Oil.  Roger retired from Texaco Oil and quickly began filling his days with fishing on Grand Lake and revealing his hidden artistic talents oil painting florals and landscapes. His favorite artist was Thomas Kinkade. Roger was a doting grandfather with a grandchild always in his arms. He was their #1 fan and never missed any sporting events.

A loving, kind, strong man who was loyal to his family and perfect in every way. His stellar integrity and humbleness are traits that we all strive to obtain. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clydia Barozinski; and brother, Frank Barozinski, Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Doris Wheelus of the home; daughter, Pamela Jones and husband, Jay of Mannford; sister-in-law, Brenda Barozinski of Prattville; grandchildren: Amanda Cook and husband, Tyler of Sand Springs, Joshua Hinton and wife, Krissy of The Woodlands, Texas, and Summer Jones of Mannford; and great-grandchildren: Braden Cook and wife, Chelsea, Teagon Cook, Maybree Cook, Sutton Cook, Harlow Hinton and one on the way, Poppie Hinton.
