The daughter of Vernon Howard Wyble and Alice Delilah (Lancaster) Wyble was born September 20, 1926, in Sand Springs. Ruth graduated from Tulsa Central High School on a Friday night in 1944; she started her first job at Western Auto the following Monday. On May 11, 1946, Ruth married the love of her life, Robert Lester "Bob" Ash in Columbus, KS. In 1954, moved into their family home in Tulsa where Ruth still lived. Bob and Ruth were blessed with three children: Carolyn, Richard, and Jeff. Ruth attended all their activities and volunteered at the elementary schools they attended.
When the children were older, Ruth became a teacher's aide at the school as well as a secretary. She eventually went to work at Gate City Steel (later Valmont) in downtown Tulsa and a contracting firm with HUD. Ruth was lovingly known as "Miss Ruth" by all her co-workers. At the age of 85, Ruth was still scanning and filing documents, and was able to enjoy retirement that year.
A faithful and devoted Christian, Ruth attended Harrison Memorial United Methodist Church. She served as the treasurer, and a Sunday school teacher for kindergarten through 2nd grade children for over 30 years.
Ruth dearly loved her family. She had a caring and giving heart, showing her children to pay it forward any time they were able. Ruth listened to others and gave great advice. She had a sweet spot for animals, and always had several dogs in her home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; and sisters: Helen Anderson and Dorothy Burris.
Survivors include her children: Carolyn Ash of Skiatook, Richard Ash of Tulsa, and Jeff Ash and wife, Shelly of Tulsa; brother, Ken Wyble and wife, Wanda of Tulsa; grandchildren: Aaron Ash of Owasso, Angela Ash of Tulsa, and Anthony Ash of Tulsa; and many extended family members.
