Shirley Neoma (McLain) Helmers, 83, of Sand Springs entered her heavenly home on Friday March 18, 2022 from her home with her family at her side.

Arrangements have been left to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service, of Sand Springs.

Shirley was born on October 20, 1938 to Odalee and Alice Mae (Lofton) McLain in the City Hospital Sand Springs, OK.  She attended Sand Springs schools and graduated in 1957. Shirley married Billie J. Morrell on August 17, 1957 and to this union they welcomed three daughters, Phoeyama L., Kelly R, and Tracy D.  Shirley married George E. Helmers on June 5, 1969.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Crews Lumber several years, then for Dillards, from which she retired.

Her beliefs in God were very important to her and she was a dedicated Christian, attending the Sand Springs Church of Christ, where she loved teaching the children and was very loved by all her church family and friends.  Shirley was a very giving person with her love, gifts and personal friendships.

She loved Sundays with the family at her home.  Lunch was a special time for her.  Children playing, laughing and everyone enjoying each other and being with her.

Shirley was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to her three daughters: Phoeyama Stromme (Ron), Kelly Smith, Tracy Barrett (Steve); step-son, Kenneth G Helmers; step-daughter Carol A. Helmers; eleven grandchildren, Courtney, Kyle, Luke, Marcus, Thomas, Steven, Josh, Heather, Nikki, Amber and Kenneth Helmers; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband George E. Helmers; mother and father; sisters, Adista Lee McLain Jones and Leona McLain; and grandson Kenneth Helmers.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Sand Springs Church of Christ, with Pastor Elliott Dunn officiating.
