Sydney Elaine Chelf passed from this life Friday, July 30, 2021, at the age of 58. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5, at the Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Johnson officiating.

The daughter of Sammy James Morrison and Ruth Alyce (Jordan) Hankins was born September 25, 1962, in Tulsa. The family lived in Austin for several years before moving back to Sand Springs. Sydney graduated from Charles Page High School in 1979. Sydney was active in journalism with the yearbook and reporter for the school newspaper; and was first clarinet in the high school band. On May 26, 1981, she married her best friend and the love of her life, Oscar James Chelf, at First Presbyterian Church in Sand Springs. Due to Oscar's career with the U.S. Army, they moved frequently between military bases. Germany and Chicago were a couple of the places they made home. Sydney found work where she could and had many interesting jobs along the way. She was the General Manager of Operations in the USA for Jureo Container Transport in Chicago where she coordinated air, road, rail, and sea deliveries moving through the United States. She worked as an executive for several Fortune 500 companies, and loved her work with Scott-Forsman Company where she edited history textbooks. When the family moved back to Tulsa she worked her way to Senior Dispatcher as a 911 operator with 12 years of service. She was most passionate about and rewarded with her role as a mother and wife. The love she had for her daughters was like no other. Sydney's passion for children didn't stop at her own, she was always finding children that needed love and brought them to her home to mother and care for.

Sydney's strong Christian faith brought her through the rough times in her life. She faithfully worshipped at her church, Glory Refuge Church, and helped in all areas of the church. She enjoyed making jewelry, and riding motorcycles all over the world. Sydney made every place she went better. She had a heart of gold and never asked for recognition. She was Oscar's better half. She kept him grounded and sane, and helped him through his nightmares and depression due to PTSD.

Sydney will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Sammy Morrison.

Survivors include her loving husband of the home; daughters: Saharra of Sallisaw, Jessica of Sand Springs, Olivia of Tulsa, Julia of Tulsa, Deidra of Tulsa, and Debra of Sand Springs; mother, Alyce Hankins of Sand Springs; step-mother, Suzanne Tyler-Morrison of Palm Meadow, FL; sisters: Sammi Morrison, Shelly Prosser and husband, Kelly, and Stacey Hilligoss and husband, Jim all of Sand Springs; and grandchildren: Logan, Tyler James, Zayne Kai, Bradley Jr., Caleb, and Morgana.
