Vicki was born on June 8, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Edgar Bartlett "Ed" Crain and Ruth Mae (Metzger) Crain. She grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Charles Page High School, where she met Daniel Gene "Danny" Thurman, with whom she would build a beautiful life and family.
On June 18, 1965, Vicki and Danny were united in marriage in Tulsa. Together they built a life centered on family, raising their daughter, Danielle Kay Thurman, in Sand Springs and sharing nearly fifty years of marriage before Danny's passing in 2014.
Vicki enjoyed a successful career in the financial industry, where she faithfully served her community for many years before retiring from Energy One Credit Union. She was exceptionally money savvy and took pride in helping others navigate their finances.
Life was meant to be enjoyed, and Vicki knew how to do just that. She loved traveling and made treasured memories visiting places such as Hawaii. A devoted Elvis Presley fan, Vicki proudly served as president of The Okies for Elvis Fan Club, where she enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm with fellow fans and celebrating the music she loved. She also enjoyed shopping, spending time at the casino, and making memories with family and friends. Strong yet kind, independent yet caring, Vicki lived life with joy, resilience, and a heart that always made room for those she loved.
Vicki shared a lifelong love of dirt track racing with her husband, Danny. Racing was truly a family affair, and together with their daughter, Dana, they owned race cars for many years. The racing community became an important part of their lives, and Vicki proudly served as president of the Tulsa Speedway Booster Club, generously giving her time in support of racers, their families, and the sport she dearly loved. Through racing, their family formed lifelong friendships and made countless treasured memories that remained close to her heart.
Vicki was always eager to hear what was happening with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in celebrating their milestones and the moments that made them smile. She also adored her beloved corgis, whose faithful companionship brought her endless comfort and happiness.
Vicki leaves behind her daughter, Dana Evans and husband, Mike; her grandchildren, D.J. Evans and wife, Samantha, Cody Evans, and Hailey Evans; her great-grandchildren, Skylar Faye Evans and Landyn Jett Evans; her sister, Karen Bachlor and husband, Ross; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Thurman; her parents, Edgar and Ruth Mae Crain; and her siblings, Noel Crain, Jim Crain, Bill Crain, Sharon Crain, Eddy Eugene Crain, and Ruth Ann Crain.
Vicki will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the love she shared throughout her life. Her laughter, determination, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. While those she leaves behind will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing Vicki is once again reunited with Danny, her devoted husband. Together they shared a beautiful life, built a loving family, and created memories that will continue to be cherished for generations.
Together again.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, acts of kindness, and expressions of sympathy shown during this difficult time. Your love and support have been a true source of comfort and will always be remembered.
