Hardage
Dec 9, 1936 — Dec 29, 2024
Sand Springs
Virginia "Jenny" Hardage entered her heavenly home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 88. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service of Sand Springs.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs. A memorial service celebrating Virginia's life will follow at 2 p.m. at North Heights Church in Sapulpa, officiated by her son, Pastor Ronny Hardage. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Virginia, lovingly known as Jenny, was born December 9, 1936, in Tulsa, to Howard Shipley and Sallie Elizabeth (Brimage) Shipley. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended Mark Twain, Roosevelt, and Central High School, graduating in 1956. During her school years, she played volleyball and enjoyed softball, nurturing her lifelong love of sports.
Jenny met the love of her life, John "Dwain" Hardage, through her siblings, and they were married on June 3, 1955, in her parents' home. On her wedding day, she was found reading a comic book-a reflection of her lighthearted and spirited personality. The couple began their life together in Mineral Wells, Texas, before settling in Sand Springs.
At the age of 16, Jenny started working at a variety store and later joined Dennis Manufacturing, where she made baby clothes. She and Dwain eventually started their business, H&H Industrial Sewing, producing clay filtration bags for airline fuel. They successfully ran their business for 25 years, where Jenny worked as an industrial seamstress.
Virginia and her sister, Wilva, shared a love of music and singing together. Virginia would play the steel guitar and her sister, Wilva, played the rhythm guitar. She cherished monthly trips to visit her aunt in Muskogee and fondly remembered the dances her parents hosted at home, complete with country music, cakes, and soft drinks.
A devoted wife and mother, Virginia was a reserved yet spirited woman with a love for painting. She created beautiful works on rocks and canvas, sharing them with family and friends. She and Dwain also enjoyed bowling and participated in league teams.
Virginia's faith was central to her life. Her family attended Mayfair Baptist Church during her children's youth, and she later became a member of North Heights Church in Sapulpa.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dwain, in 2009; her daughter, Regina Gail McBride, in 2017; her parents; and her siblings: a stillborn baby brother, Lucille Killough, Cleo Killough, Betty Harvey, Osa "Ann" Roberts, Billie Dubbs, and Geneva Kidd.
She is survived by her children: Pastor Ronny Hardage and wife Jennifer of Sapulpa, Rhonda Lee Head and husband Tom of Sand Springs; her son-in-law, Larry McBride of Sand Springs; grandchildren: Brandon Wayne McBride and wife Jessica, Kyle Ray Gibson and wife Shawna, and Rachel Nicole (Hardage) Wood and husband Asher; great-grandchildren: Hallie, Hattie, and Honey; and her beloved sister, Wilva Leeds of Tulsa.
In honor of Virginia's legacy, memorial contributions may be made to North Heights Church, 925 N. 8th St., Sapulpa, OK 74066.
