Waylon was born on January 6, 1981, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lester Wayne Simpson and Toni Waters, and was raised by his father and mother, Tammy Jean Carter Simpson. He grew up in Sand Springs, where his strong work ethic was evident from an early age. At just eight years old, Waylon began working alongside his grandparents at Carter Excavating, learning to operate heavy equipment—work that would become not only his lifelong career but also a point of great pride. A skilled heavy equipment operator his entire life, Waylon went on to own and operate Simpson Truck Line from 2018 to the present. His last job took him to Key West, Florida, where he worked on the pipeline with Mex Utilities.

Waylon loved life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors, especially when surrounded by family and friends. He was known for his love of horseshoes—undefeated and proud of it—along with playing pool and relaxing with a cold beer after a long day of hard work. More than anything, Waylon cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandbabies, who brought him immeasurable joy.

Waylon and LaWanda Rose Kelley knew one another throughout their lives and reconnected years later after running into each other at The Office. Two weeks later, Waylon called her, and their story continued from there. They were married on September 22, 2012, at New Life Christian Center. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and companionship. They enjoyed long drives listening to music, recently began working out together at the gym—something they truly enjoyed—and treasured every moment spent side by side. In September, they celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary with a cruise, creating memories filled with laughter and joy, sharing that they had never laughed so much and had an incredible time together.

Waylon was loving, outgoing, and truly never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He worked hard his entire life, taking great pride in providing for his family, whom he loved deeply and without limits. Nothing meant more to him than his family, and he adored his six children and fourteen grandchildren beyond measure.

Waylon's selfless spirit, generous heart, and unwavering love leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Autumn Simpson; mothers: Tammy Simpson and Toni Langford; and grandparents: Lester and ImaJean Simpson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, LaWanda Simpson; children, Coy Simpson, Spencer Lewis and wife Cambry Hicks, Waylon Roberts, Angel Jones and husband Cody, and Shelly Denham; his father, Lester "Peewee" Simpson and girlfriend Valeria; his sisters, Amanda Simpson Roberts, Alicia Langford, and Lacy Langford; and his grandchildren, Candace Denham, Katelyn Jones, Miley Jones, Mia Jones, Mekko Jones, Bryston Austin, Jaydee Austin, Kinzley Austin, Junior Youngblood, Michael Youngblood, Anthony Bracy, Gracelyn, Stetson, and Cheznie.

Waylon will be deeply missed and forever loved.
