The son of Edward James Surine and Alice Jenette (Lowe) Surine was born January 30, 1947, in Adair. He attended school in Pryor: and at the age of 18, went to work as a janitor for the Grand River Dam Authority. He retired after 17 years of service. Throughout the years he also worked at Trade Winds Hotel, Camelot Hotel, and was a partner at the Green Onion Restaurant.
On October 9, 1987, Wayne married the love of his life, Mary Edna (Badgwell) Admire at Olivet Baptist Church, Tulsa. Wayne was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved Christmas, and was passionate about decorating. He took great pride in setting up his elaborate Christmas village and train each year. He also loved decorating the house for Halloween and dressing up as Dracula to greet the neighborhood trick-or-treaters. Wayne enjoyed growing flowers; and could often be found looking for special shaped rocks to add to his collection while Mary was fishing at the lake. Wayne loved to talk to everyone. He visited Joe's Citgo often to visit with friends. He was a gentle man, who always had a smile on his face and was kind to everyone he met.
We won't forget his sayings that bring us a smile remembering him, "Wayne, Wayne, Wayne, What?!", "Mary, it's your world and I'm just trying to live in it", and "Whatever". Wayne will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Margaret, Richard, Donny, Clara, and Bob; and grandson, Ronnie Cloud.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Mary; children: Eddie Crosby (Barbara) of Tulsa, Robert Crosby of Owasso, Debra Moyer (Daniel) of Sand Springs, and Danielle McDowell of Sand Springs; brother, George Surine (Renee) of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren: Amanda DePalmo (Jay), Christa Hoch (Adam), DeAnna Crosby, LeeAnn Crosby, Angela Crosby, Robbie Crosby, Jason Moyer (Vicki), Haley Griffith (Trey), Coltan McDowell (Brittany), Connor McDowell, Haley Casebier, Chayce Cloud, Anthony Whalen, Ayden Whalen, and Ethan McDowell; great-grandchildren: Neveah, Noah, Ethan, Sarah, Luke, Whitney, Taylor, Ki, Jesse, Amelia, Eric, Katie, Carson, Alyssa, Remington, and Adalynne; and great-great-grandchildren: Logan, Lily, Andromeda, and Aurora.
