William "Bill" Bernard Hendricks, 67 of Sand Springs passed away at home, on Thursday September 5, 2024 with his wife at his side.
Visitation will be held at Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service on Monday September 9, 2024 from 1 pm to 8 pm, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at Broadway Baptist Church, Sand Springs at 10 a.m. with interment in Wetumka Cemetery, Wetumka, OK scheduled for 2:30 pm Tuesday.
Bill was born on February 6, 1957 in Independence, MO to Curtis Dean and Rosie Jo (Legion) Hendricks. At the age of 6, he moved to the Sand Springs area with his brothers, Joseph Grover Hendricks and Curtis Dean Hendricks, Jr. being raised at the Sand Springs Home. Bill found many other brothers and sisters and life long friends. Several years later, Bill discovered that he had two sisters, Becky and Sandy and brother, David Dean Hendricks, who live in Missouri.
Bill graduated from Charles Page High School and began working at Miller Exchangers, Cust-o-Fab, moving to Trinity Industries, then Sheffield Steel, and retiring after almost 20 years with TCI as an above ground tank inspector. He loved his work with TCI and all that he worked with over the years. Bill was admired as a great co-worker and known for speaking facts and the truth. Bill was famous for giving people nicknames. When asked how his day was going, his reply was always "Another Day in Paradise".
Bill met the love of his life, Janet Yvonne (Boyd) Hendricks and they were married on February 13, 1975 in Gainesville, TX. Making their home in Sand Springs.
Bill enjoyed racket ball, hand ball and tennis where he was known as "Bjorn Borg", golf and loved animals, birds, turtles and Pekinese dogs especially. There is a picture of a hummingbird inches from his face, because he interacted with them while feeding the little creatures. He never liked to fish, because he could never catch anything even at a Pay lake.
Bill Loved Football! A few years ago, Ronnie Luce asked him to run the flags at the Sandite Games. Bill was beside himself with joy. Little did Bill realize that Ronnie mainly asked Bill to do this to keep him quiet. Bill was known for standing on the sidelines giving instructions to the players and coaches, who appreciated Ronnie's efforts to leave the coaching to them. Bill loved OU football but his main team was the Kansas City Chiefs. When he was young, he got to meet Coach Hank Stram and player Len Dawson which he was extremely proud of. It didn't matter if they won or lost, Bill loved the Chiefs.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet; grandsons, Jonathan Quier and wife Rachael, , Austin Hendricks, Justin Hendricks; granddaughter, Katelyn Hendricks; brothers, Curtis and Joseph; sister, Becky Kesler; daughter-in-law, Kamala Hendricks; and mother-in-law, Augusteen Boyd.
