Our History
Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service began as "Bert's Paint & Furniture". Caskets were built in the back of the building on an 'at-need' basis. Eventually, funeral services were offered as well as an ambulance service.
The original business was founded in 1915, here in Sand Springs, while under the ownership of R.L. Mobley. He was known for being friendly, compassionate, and warm; folks remember his daily visits to area businesses just to 'pop' in to say a quick 'hello' and share wishes for a good day.
Al Sr. was hired in 1936. Soon after, he earned his license as a Funeral Director/Embalmer and began his long career in serving our community.
In the early '60's, the Dodson Family began ownership.
In 1982, Al Dodson, Jr. earned his Funeral Director/Embalmer license, and he joined the family.
When Al's health began to fail in mid 2006, his son, Al Jr., saw to daily operations. Al Sr. passed away in August of '06, and Flo passed in 2009. Al Jr retired in 2009 after 29 years with Mobley-Dodsons.
Jim Groesbeck passed away in June of 2019. His experience and leadership were reminiscent of Al Sr's...as well as his genuine concern for the families he served. His children, James and Brittanie Groesbeck, are now the sole owners of the firm and will carry on the legacy and continue to faithfully serve the community in their time of need.

Currently...
We are now located at 211 E. Broadway in Sand Springs.
We have experienced many improvements in facilities, automobiles, and family services...one point remains today that was evident from our beginning:
"Take time to be tender. Fragile and delicate are the feelings of most who seek our help. They need to know we are here because we CARE...not just because it's our job."
Online Memorial
We can create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.
Tribute Video
We can produce a personal tribute video that can be played at the service and online. Simply provide us with the photographs you want to include and we will transform them into a video celebration of your treasured memories. DVDs or USB thumb drives of the video are also available.
Ordering Flowers
We make it easy for friends and family to send flowers to your home or service to honor your loved one. We have partnered with local florists to offer the convenience of ordering directly from the obituary page of our website. You can also use this feature to select the flowers you would like at the service. This is a secure way to choose beautiful arrangements from the privacy and comfort of your home.
Sharing Service Details
We reduce the stress of contacting those who need the details of the service for your loved one. We post the dates and times of the service as part of the online memorial on our website. You can then either share the memorial on your Facebook or X page or copy the details from the site into an email or text. Both options give you the peace of mind that you have provided the necessary information to those who need it.
